We’re on the verge of a new year, and traditionally, it’s a time when we reflect on our lives and think about what we want to achieve and improve on over the next 12 months (hopefully). When I look at 2015, I’m proud that I was able to launch Creatively Corporate and continue to contribute content consistently over these past three months, and one goal for 2016 is certainly to continue that. But what about the next steps? How do I build on this personal achievement?
Here are my resolutions for 2016:
Build a Corporate Video Production Webinar
One of the reasons for starting Creatively Corporate is to get in the habit of creating content that’s valuable to my fellow corporate communicators. I’ve written a good deal about video creation because it’s something I know a lot about and realize that it’s something with which most of my colleagues aren’t familiar. They might be able to create simple testimonial or interview videos with their smartphones, but they don’t have the knowledge to take it to the next level.
That’s why I want to create an educational program that will help others who are great writers but don’t know how to think of video production like someone with my background. I want other communicators to be comfortable with the process and principles so they can become the go-to video gurus in their organizations and deliver the valuable visual content that they need.
Learn More About SEO Writing
I know the basics about SEO (search engine optimization) writing, but still need to get more comfortable with the practice. I’ve re-posted articles on my social media accounts, but admit that I don’t write much about it on my blog because of my minimal familiarity. So one goal in 2016 is to continue my education in this discipline so I can put it into more effective practice and write more confidently about it.
Develop My Social Media/Online Marketing Skills
Another skill I’ve been trying to acquire over the last few months has been marketing on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. My knowledge very much at the beginner level, but since these channels are becoming the wave of the future with regard to reaching potential readers and customers, it’s necessary for those in the marketing field to become experts. I have materials and access to people who are skilled in this regard, so I’m optimistic that by this time next year, I’ll have a good deal of experience in social media marketing.
Yeah. Unfortunately, this too.
